MSU Sports JRN 418 is a partner in the FOX Sports U program, representing opportunities for students to develop creative media leadership. In the Spring 2016 semester, the first class of 418 students competed in teams of 3 to develop marketing and editorial concepts for the FOX Sports Go app for FOX Sports Detroit.

The Spring 2016 challenge was won by the team of Richie Carni, Julie Angell, and Robert Bondy. Students pitched FOX executives from LA and Detroit, needing to explain and sell their concept, as well as take questions.

The Spring 2017 edition of 418 worked on @The313 show with FOX Sports Detroit, helping conceptualize marketing, branding, and editorial pathways for the online product. The teams used 360 camera technology to develop new storytelling methods.
