The MSU School of Journalism is now part of the Jim Murray Memorial Foundation Scholarship contest. What does that mean? More opportunities for MSU sports JRN students.
There are five, $5,000 offered by the foundation in its annual column contest.
Each of the 33 universities in the program will submit 1 column for consideration.
In other words, you have a 5-in-33 chance of winning $5k. You must be a junior or sophomore (no graduating seniors anytime in 2016), pursuing a career in sports journalism, graduating in spring 2017/2018, have a 3.0 GPA, and have good character. (we know you do!) You need to write a 800-1000 word column on a person, event, or incident that figures prominently in the history of Michigan State. It could be a memorable game, coach, player or artifact that has become an indelible part of the Spartans story.
You can win the 5K, which can be used for any purpose to support school (books, tuition, room/board, academic needs (workshops/seminars). You also will go to Los Angeles for the winner’s celebration in October.
SO WHY NOT DO IT?
Please see Profs Gerstner and Dickerson for more information. This column is due to us by April 20.
